OPERATION CODE WORD

Callaway in Galloway is Redneck Speak
and part of their campaign strategy.

By VIRGINIA McCABE

A small faction of the Galloway Republican Party is comprised of Redneck bigots. That’s right I said it. Sadly, this small faction has gotten a foot up in the party. This week, a special meeting was held by the Galloway Republican League to discuss how to stop Meg Worthington and Craig Calloway from registering voters in the township.

The trouble for Republicans is that Meg and Craig are not doing that. This is a story concocted by the Redneck base of the Republican party. Their plan was detailed in an email and a memo that was leaked to the media by thinking Republicans who do not wish to see their political club turned into the local chapter of the KKK. Good for them, they should be commended.

Since Rednecks can not come right out and say what is on their mind, because they would be run out of town on a hand rail, they resort to using code words. The code words they have crafted for this campaign are “Callaway in Galloway.”

Callaway in Galloway is a code word for keep “those” people out of our town. This stands in sharp contrast to the previous government in Galloway Township, who worked to promote the diverse culture that Galloway Township represents.

The code words are cloaked in a diatribe about "voter fraud." Nothing could be further from the truth. A flyer mailed out by Republicans stated that Callaway had already registered "dozens" of voters in Galloway. That was another lie. There were no such registrations recorded by the Board of Elections.

This is not the first time that racism has reared its ugly head in town. When Habitat for Humanity decided to build a house in Galloway Township, a few of our officials placed racist information in mailboxes in the area where the house would be built.

That strategy failed. The people of Galloway turned out in droves to support Habitat for Humanity and the Rednecks hid in shame.

Another under-the-radar racist campaign was waged against the BAPS Temple. A few Rednecks did not want “those” people in town either. Now they are bowing and scarping for the Indian vote.

Racism has to be challenged each time it rears its ugly head. Cloaking racist ideas in code language does not lessen the ugliness of the intention or the impact on the community. If the Redneck faction of the Republican party have nothing else to run on except their hatred, so be it. However, they should be prepared to stand up and explain that hatred in the light of day, with their hoods removed. Good Republicans should work to take back their party in the township.

If somebody in town starts to whisper “Callaway in Galloway” in your ear, tell them you know its just code language for “Bigots in Galloway,” and you won’t be a part of it.

‘Callaway in Galloway’ Secret Republican Strategy Email and Memo Leaked to Media

The best way to run an effective campaign is to keep your secret strategy emails and memos a secret.

The Galloway Republicans ran out of luck last week when a tactical memo outlining a racist smear campaign was leaked to the media.

The memo outlines how to smear a Democratic council member by claiming that Atlantic City President Craig Callaway is planning a voter registration drive in town.

That claim is false.

On the same day the memo was leaked, a race-baiting flyer was sent to Galloway Republicans and falsely stated that Callaway has already delivered “several dozen voter registration applications” from Galloway Township to county government.

A check of county voting records show no voter registrations from Galloway have been delivered to the Board of Elections that were signed by Craig Callaway or any of his well-known campaign workers.

Galloway Democratic Club President Dave Evans has emphatically denied that Craig Callaway or his campaign workers have any hand in the party. He also stated that all campaign operations will be conducted by Galloway Township residents.

The flyer and memo target Council Woman Meg Worthington and claim she is working with Callaway.

A source in the Galloway Republican League said the strategy was designed to “fire up the redneck members” of the party.

The memo also issues a call to arms for Republicans to gather at a special meeting at the Smithville Inn to “discuss the Callaway-Worthington campaign to manipulate Galloway’s election.”

The memo is designed to inject race-baiting and division into the campaign, according to two Republican party members who said they hoped the candidates would stick to the “important issues” in Galloway.

One Republican member said that Worthington was targeted because a poll showed she was “way out in front” of the other candidates.
