I don’t know when it became acceptable among some Americans to bash our veterans and abuse their military records for political or financial gain, but that vile practice is trying to grow roots in Atlantic County. I hope other patriotic Americans will stand up with me to voice their strong objections to this kind of treatment of our veterans.

Radio Talk Show Host Harry Hurley has been posting rumors on his website about Atlantic City Mayor Bob Levy’s military service in Vietnam. Levy honorable served the United States for 20 years.

Hurley is closely aligned with Former Mayor Lorenzo Langford and takes every possible chance to hurl invective at Mayor Bob Levy. Now, Hurley has crossed the line with this assault on a United States Army Veteran.

In 1964, Levy enlisted in the United States Army. He was a Sergeant in the Special Forces and served multiple tours of duty in Vietnam. A combat veteran, Levy was awarded two Bronze Stars.

Later in his military career he headed the U.S. Army Recruiting in Atlantic City and was the Professional Development Officer for all Army Recruitment in New Jersey from Newark to Manahawkin. Levy retired from the U.S. Army in 1984 and held the rank of First Sergeant (TOP).

Harry Hurley should hang his head in shame for posting rumors and trying to tarnish the record of a war hero. Hurley didn’t like it when vile things were said about his father’s service in the military. Another rumor monger falsely claimed that Hurley’s father had been a deserter. I still remember the hurt that Hurley felt at the time. He was justified in his angry and disgust.

Now Hurley has become the veteran abuser. No doubt his words are causing hurt for another veteran’s family.

The attack is made even more odious because Hurley has never worn the uniform. He never held a weapon and stood the post. Mayor Bob Levy chose to join the Army and defend this country. Hurley chose not to serve.

Hurley is now broadcasting on a Christian radio station. I am shocked and disgusted that a station that professes to hold Christian values dear would allow this devil a forum to spread lies, destroy lives and act in a most un-Christian manner.

Hurley has lost his moral compass and in my opinion, he is acting as badly as the group of people who go to our veteran’s funerals to jeer the grieving family and hurl abuse during the service.

I want to condemn what Harry Hurley is doing in the strongest possible terms. I hope other people who care about our veterans and love this country will join me. Our veterans deserve to be treated with respect.

A Fresh Round of Vet Bashing by Harry Hurley

Harry Hurley has posted a fresh round of Vet Bashing statements on his website. Now Hurley is claiming to have received an Email stating that "a local official is presently being investigated by independent military group"
What are you talking about Harry? What is the name of this "indenpendent military group" Who are the members? Do they have a name, an address? What qualifies them as investigators? Are they acting under the auspices of the law? Are they a figment of your imagination? This country is at war Harry. Why are you bashing our veterans?

Why Would Harry Do It?
Behind the dog and pony show are two irrefutable facts. Hurley posted that a veteran was being investigated and would be revealed as a fraud (before the so called investigation was complete) and a letter seeking Mayor Bob Levy's military record was being sought.Read the full column here.

The Dishonorable Harry Hurley

Your reckless assault on our American Military heroes isn’t playing well out in the real world Mr. Hurley. Your back peddling on your innuendo isn’t working. People see you for what you are, a shameless smear merchant.

In case you didn’t know it Mr. Hurley, this country did not treat the veterans of the Vietnam War very well during and after their time in country. Maybe this has emboldened you to go after a Vietnam Veteran in your quest for financial or political gain.

What has happened to your soul Mr. Hurley? Do you have no sense of decency sir? Is the God you worship a dollar bill or a place in the backseat of a local political assassination squad?

How dare you try to use a veteran in your dark political agenda. 58,148 Americans were killed and 304,000 wounded out of 2.59 million who served our country in that war.

If you attack one veteran Mr. Hurley, you are dishonoring all veterans.

The McCaffrey Papers tell us that 2/3 of the men who served in Vietnam were volunteers. You sir, chose not to serve your country. Why do you think you are entitled to question, verbally assault, go after or humiliate an American Veteran?

The depth of your shame can not be measured. You are a man who understands no boundaries or sense of fair play and decency.

You claim you are conducting an investigation of an American Vet. Really? Are you an investigator? Are you inflating your credentials and importance? What authority do you possess to claim you are an investigator? Your claim is sheer and utter nonsense.

I suppose you don’t possess the embarrassment gene.

In my opinion, you are not fit to wipe the boots of any member in our military, past or present. Perhaps you should investigate your own navel and try to discover why you constantly choose to take a path of public destruction.

You were outraged when somebody called your father, a man who served the country with honor, a deserter.

Remember that day Mr. Hurley? Do you remember how you felt? Do you remember what you said about people who attack veterans? Do you remember the “speech” you made that day and the next and the next.

I remember it. Now you have turned into everything you hated about people who smear the good name of our American Heroes.

When it comes to the wonderful people who served our country, why don’t you just say thank you, and be on your way. You have nothing of value to add to the conversation Mr. Hurley.
