A small earthquake rattled residents of northern New Jersey
Monday night. Experts stated the 2.9 shaker is a rare geological event
in the region Story below

The epicenter is off Franklin Road in Denville at 40.870°N,
74.522°W putting it in the backyard triangle of the Union Hill
Presbyterian Church, the Union Hill Nursery School and the Denville Mobile
Station on Route 10, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) map.
The Lamont-Doherty Cooperative Seismographic
Network detected the earthquake and reported to the USGS.
Numerous 9-1-1 phone calls were received throughout northern New Jersey
reporting an "explosion."
The earthquake was shallow causing more people to feel it. No injuries
or deaths have been reported.
The location is called the 'hub of Morris County' because it is the center
of many transportation routes. The area is also known to be the stomping
grounds of the Lenape Native Americans. Denville is traversed by the Minisink
Trail of the Lenape.
