ATLANTIC
DAILY SENTINEL Atlantic County New Jersey |
An Absecon woman was arrested today for allegedly accessing a patient’s medical records on the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center computer network, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced. Mildred Zamot, 30, of Ohio Avenue, accessed the female patient’s records on May 14 while Zamot was working at the Atlantic Gastroenterology Associates in Egg Harbor Township. The victim was not a patient of Atlantic Gastroenterology Associates. Zamot was terminated from her position prior to her arrest. Authorities said only the one victim’s identity appeared to be compromised and was not accessed for financial gain. On June 8 the victim filed an indictable complaint in the Egg Harbor Township Police Department for identity theft, which was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and forwarded to the Computer Crimes Unit for investigation. Detectives from the Computer Crimes Unit arrested Zamot at 313 Hanthorn Street in Mays Landing at approximately 10:30 a.m. today and charged her with unauthorized access of records, a second-degree crime. Zamot was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or bond bail. As a condition of bail, Superior Court Judge Michael A. Donio ordered that Zamot have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family. ***These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt.
